Location
Swaledale Yurts is based at Park House, just outside the village of Keld. Swaledale is a beautiful valley with the river Swale at its bottom. It is a protected landscape in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and at the meeting point of a number of nationally recognised walking trails.
From Richmond and Reeth
If you’re approaching from Richmond or Reeth on the B6270, as you approach Keld you will pass Keld Lodge on your left-hand side. Continue straight on for approximately 600 meters, passing a pair of houses on the right-hand side after about 300 meters. Then as you come around the corner you will see us at the bottom of the hill on the right-hand side. The entrance is clearly marked with our Swaledale Yurts sign.
Caravans are advised to go past the gate, turn at the junction and approach from the opposite direction.
From Kirkby Stephen
If you are approaching from Kirkby Stephen on the B6270, as you near Keld the road will narrow with walls on either side. You’ll pass some large rocky cliffs on the left-hand side and run parallel to the river. Continue on, and you will see the turning for Tan Hill. We are immediately on the left-hand side, with the entrance clearly marked with our Swaledale Yurts sign.
From Tan Hill
If you are approaching from the A66 (not a suitable route for long or heavy vehicles such as caravans) follow the signs to Tan Hill. After 3 miles you will pass through the small village of West Stonesdale. You’ll then come down a very steep sharp zig-zag bend, cross the bridge over the river and we are immediately on the left-hand side. Our entrance is clearly marked with our Swaledale Yurts sign.
